History of IWC

International Watch Company or IWC was founded in 1868 in Schaffhausen by an American pioneer watch maker Florentine Ariosto Jones to manufacture watch movements for extremely qualified Swiss watchmakers. The first premise of the factory was rented by F.A. Jones from the premises known as the industrial complex of Moser. Soon an additional space was leased by the company in one of the oldest building of Schaffhausen, Oberhaus. A new factory and headquarters of IWC was constructed in 1874-75 in Baugarten near the banks of river Rhine. In 2005 and 2008 IWC has expanded its headquarters by adding West and East wings to it.
